We find that Carpenter has helped us gain a different perspective on our lives, careers and business.
This book indeed proves the saying that ‘The Pen is mightier than the sword’. This book was written by a group of students from Woodrow Wilson High School and their teacher Erin Gruwell. The journal contains stories of struggle, oppression and Inspiration of the 150 students. It shows that a teacher can be the biggest source of inspiration and can truly change lives. It shows how writing can change people and the world around them.
This diary sparked a huge interest in the USA. It explored the huge gaps in the US education system. Erin Gruwell started the Freedom writers foundation which aims to lessen the education gap and provides tools to educators that would empower students. The diary was later adapted into a Movie called Freedom Writers starring Hillary Swank.
