Carpets are usually one of the most expensive things in a house to replace. Keeping it clean and stain free is not always easy. Summer can be the most difficult times for our carpets, what with all the family and friends over for holidays! (well there has to be some sort of bad side of the holiday season). Stains can be a sore to our eyes bur keeping them hygienic is important if you want your family to stay healthy.
We have put together a few simple ways that you can keep your carpets hygienic and stain free this summer!
1.Keep your shoes by the front door: An easy way to help keep dirt off your indoor carpets is by asking all family members and visitors to remove their shoes as they enter your home. Most people know what a drag it is getting your carpet all dirty so they usually do not mind when you ask them to do so. You can also place a small closed shoe rack by the door, so your guests can neatly place them inside the rack rather than leaving it by the door (also a wise idea if you have a dog that is partial to shoes!
2. Area Rugs and Mats:If you do not feel comfortable asking your house guests to remove their shoes, another great way to keep your carpet clean is by putting down Area Rugs in places that you know will contain heavy traffic such as the living room. Also putting down a doormat at the entrance of your home will give visitors a place to wipe off the dirt that may be stuck on the bottom of their shoes before entering inside.
3. Regular Vacuuming:Vacuuming at least once a week (twice if you entertain more often) will help keep dust, dirt and allergens from settling into your carpet and prevent excessive wear and tear damage to the fibers. Also try sprinkling some baking soda on the carpet before vacuuming to help absorb odors.
